ANOTHER HARLEM ENTITY BITES THE DUST.

The Lenox Lounge, A long-standing jazz bar/lounge in Harlem, located on Lenox Avenue  between 124th and 125th streets, was founded in 1939 and has served as a venue for performances by many great jazz artists.  Unfortunately is slated to close on December 31st 2012.  Alvin Reed owner of the Lenox Lounge since 1988, restored the jazz club from what it once was to what it is now. The landlords have in-forced a rent hike which is forcing Mr. Reed out of the property. Mr. Reed  states that his rent is being raised to $20,000, double what he has been paying.

Due to this rent hike, on December 31st, 2012, when everyone is celebrating the new year and tossing out the old and bringing in the new.  This time tossing out the old will be a sad day for the Lenox Lounge.
